  4. If you are planning on meeting saturday (feb 11) I won't be able to. I have to work that day. Also, I will be out of town thursday (feb 16) through sunday (feb 27) so I will be unable to meet any of those days. I will still be able to get online while I am gone, though, and I receive all emails straight to my phone which means I won't be out of touch or unable to reach at any point.

  5. I just wanted to let you know that i can't meet on the 11th as i have to work that day.Also i will not be around the 16th or the 23rd.If you all want to chat on here that would be great.How do we present this online or do we all have to do it in person?

  6. Sorry, I don't have a blogspot account so my name appears as abroka10. I know I will be out of town the 25th to the 26th of February, but besides those two days, I can meet any time anyone wants to until the project is due. I think we should have a plan set in place by Wednesday, the 15th. This plan should include who will take on what tasks, and the means we will take to present the chapter material. The details of this assignment call for a video/slide portion with audio, and a text-only alternative content. The means of doing this can be power point, iMovie, or other like programs.

    Does anyone have any preferences on the means we should use? Power point may be obvious tool to use, but is anyone familiar with other methods? How about the way it should be arranged?

    We need to start making a plan if we are going to get the project completed successfully. I will post back on Wednesday, the 15th, will my ideas and review yours.

Just wanted to see what was going on with the project that we are doing.Haven't heard from anyone.Not sure how you do a group project online so if anyone does can you let me know.Also Let me know what i can do to help you all.If we have to make a powerpoint and i have all the information i can make one.Just let me know.Thaks

  8. I was thinking we break this project into four individual sections each of us can work on. What I was thinking was having the following sections: someone taking the notes on the chapter for the project, someone making the powerpoint/video portion, someone doing the audio portion of the powerpoint/video, and then someone typing the alternative text format required for the project.

    We could each pick an individual subsection of the project to work on, and then submit it to the rest of the group for critiquing. In this way, we will being doing things on our own but also allowing for group critiquing at the end.

    Let me know what everyone thinks on this plan. If anyone has a better idea, please do so here soon. I think we can all finish the sub-parts of the project fairly quickly.

    My suggestion is we should give certain tasks to people that have strengths in those areas. For example, the most technological savvy person can make the video portion, and the person with the best note taking skills can write what will be on each slide for the video.

    Everyone should review the instructor's presentation of the resume project. I think we should follow this format or something similar to it for the chapter presentation project.

    Please let me know what everyone thinks. I would like to hear back from everyone by this friday, the 17th.

  9. I'm a little confused at what purpose taking notes is going to serve? I'm willing to work on any part necessary except the audio part. I guess just let me know what you need me to do. I'm leaving for vacation tonight. I will have my computer with me if I need to do any work but I won't be on often. If anyone needs to contact me, my midmail is the best option because those go straight to my cell phone.

  10. Kate, this is a presentation of the chapter material, so the information in the chapter will need to be summarized into notes for the purpose of the video portion. This allows for the person who is making the video to simply organize the notes into the slides. So, the note-taker would essentially be making the powerpoint on paper, and the video person would transfer this onto the video. Only one person will need to take notes on the chapter.

    I would be willing to do the video portion of the project. I would most likely use powerpoint and tailor the design to make a unique project.

    In my opinion, since Kate will be gone on vacation, it would be best for her to type the alternative text portion. I am thinking this portion is much like the instructor's alternative text he does to his weekly podcasts.

    For the researcher role, I believe Cynthia would do a good job summarizing the chapter for the presentation. This role should read the chapter, and make appropriate sections on paper to summarize the information.

    For the audio role, I believe Fred would do best on this role. He seems to be knowledgeable and I suspect he could add his own personal job experience to the project.

    As for me, I would enjoy working on the video portion of the presentation.

    No one needs to agree with my suggestions. I am simply making assumptions on the little information I have.

    If no one has any problems, then we should consider following this plan of action. Remember, this project is due in two weeks from today, the 16th.

    Please respond to this post and let me know what you think. For now, we just need to get people in their roles so they can start them.

      I have just finished a tough week (i.e. calculas exam). I am sure you all also have been busy. I can now devote more time to our project. We wil attempt to get everyone situated in their roles. Hang tight Katie and Cynthia, as you both are out of town (Katie 16-27th and Cynthia16-23). I will meet w/ Adam this week in person and w/ his help align us.

  11. Adam and I met on Sunday, the 19th, to discuss our project. What we came up with is this:

    1. Fred will introduce and close the power point presenation with two 20 second video clips.

    2. Adam will synethsize information into a power point presentation and provide audio to it.

    3. The above information will come from the researcher (Katie or Cynthia). The researcher should summarize the chapter in accordance with the learning objectives on page 219.

    4. To complete all the elements and requirements of the project, a person (Katie or Cynthia) will be needed to type the text alternative to the presentation. This will be done after the first three phases have been completed.

    Text Alternative- Katie or Cynthia

    Katie and Cynthia should begin discussing who will take on the last two roles above.

    *Fred will post entire details regarding the project's framework on Wednesday, the 22nd.

  17. Katie, did you not read my previous posts that I posted almost a week ago? I suggested you do the alternative text portion (and I explained what this was) because it seemed to be the easiest portion for you to complete while on vacation.

    This suggestion wasn't set in stone, so Fred and I gave you two the option of picking either the researching role or typing the text alternative. You should have emailed Cynthia and came to an agreement about who would pick up each task. Because of the circumstances, it was possible that roles might be switched in this project.

    If you are doing the text alternative, what you will want to do is type out the narration of the powerpoint on a word/pdf document. Once I have completed the entire project, I will send it to you, and you will need to listen to the entire project and put what you hear into text form.

    I have already contacted Fred a week ago and exchanged information with him for the resume project. You will probably need to exchange information with Cynthia.

    As for Cynthia, please try and have the chapter summarized by Wednesday afternoon/night. I will be out of town Saturday and Sunday (25th/26th) so I want to complete as much of the project I can by Friday.

    Fred, send me that video whenever you get the chance.

  19. Just providing a quick update for the group. I have successfully completed the design stages of the PowerPoint presentation. As of today, the 25th, all I have left to finish is the narration of the last 6 slides. I plan on completing the rest of this project on Sunday and Monday.

    Thank you Cynthia for getting me the chapter details on time. It was helpful for the few slides I have narrated so far.

    Fred, it will not take long to import the videos into the PowerPoint, so no rush, but I was curious when you will be sending those to me?

    Katie, I plan on having the project done by Tuesday afternoon, so that will give you a day and half to type to the alternative text portion. Will that be enough time for you?

    I will be in Canada tonight from 4 pm to Sunday at 4 pm. I will not be able to receive any e-mails through my phone. Just giving everyone a head's up.

    I believe we are on track to complete the project by Wednesday. Let the group know if anyone has any concerns or problems. I will send everyone a copy of the final presentation when I am done on Tuesday. This will give me another day to change any mistakes you guys find.
